Derek just a quick question, when texturing line-side objects (those that require higher texture detail such as this bridge) do you keep a fixed resolution. E.g. say 100 x 100 pixels of texture for a 1m x 1m object area & decrease this for medium - far distance objects? The stone detail here is really high & I'd be keen to know what ratio of object size:texture area you're using. Thanks C
This is a very good question. The short answer is no. However I do consider the mapping size when I make objects often I tile a 512/512 brick/stone texture 3Mx3M. or 1024/1024 on a 6Mx6M
I don't have a formula just match by eye.
However, having said that I probably do have a formula I just don't think about it. When I go back to this bridge, I will check against my other assets and compare. I'll feed back my findings. :)
